Yet again, another moon scene. Only this one I drew from actually seeing. A while back, earlier in the year, I found myself in California. I was driving late at night through this small town. The Moon Goddess greeted me over the water of a giant lake, and the way it caught the tops of the hills and hit the water was a sight. There were clouds, of course I forgot to put clouds in this painting. But they were scarce, and the stars shone against an inky black water. It was magical. The town was quiet, and all the while, the moon illuminated so much of the lake, surrounding forests and even the road. I can't imagine anything quite like it. The night is beautiful in the right places, especially when the Moon Goddess is there in spirit. I went back to my hotel, and found myself awake at three A.M. I couldn't sleep, I dreamed of the image in my mind. I took my new canvas I had bought a few days back, my easel, and sat out there in the parking lot. The traffic was light, and the moon still high in the sky. I painted what i couldn't get out of my head. I watched the moon go down, and was there to greet the sun. I have no way of naming this one the right name, so we'll just go with 'Moon Over the Lake' until I can truly pin down it's name.
